When nature brings people together, it creates changes that leave a lasting value.
Through the reforestation initiative in the area near the Church of St. George in Valandovo, a new green landmark was created, as well as a space where community, solidarity and active civic participation gained real meaning.
The action brought together beneficiaries of guaranteed minimum assistance, students from Goce Delchev Secondary School, employees of the Center for Social Work and representatives of Macedonian Forests – Valandovo, who jointly planted more than 100 Arizona cypress seedlings. This cooperation showed that everyone has the potential to contribute when given the opportunity to be an active part of the community.
🌱 Green social work connects environmental care with social justice, inclusion and the empowerment of the local community. The involvement of people from vulnerable groups together with young people created a space for mutual learning, breaking down prejudices and building a sense of belonging and shared responsibility. This synergy between citizens, institutions and the education sector is a foundation for sustainable development and stronger social cohesion.
💚 Every tree planted is a message that caring for nature also means caring for people. Together, we are building more inclusive, resilient and greener communities where no one is left behind and everyone has the opportunity to be part of positive change.
The initiative is part of the project “ZZZ – Together for Green Advocacy for Environmental Protection”, supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in North Macedonia / Government of Switzerland through Civica Mobilitas, in partnership with CMA KRIK, Center for Social Initiatives “Nadez” and the Association of Social Workers of Macedonia – ASWM.
